Relais Piazza Garibaldi

Medieval District – Terracina

Many of the visitors to this beautiful seaside tourist town, a landing point for the Pontine Islands, do not imagine the interest they might find on a visit to its historic center. Much on the hill, in the heart of the medieval quarter, stood the monumental center of Roman Terracina; Its ruins are framed by medieval buildings and have as epicenter the great square of the Emilia-Romagna Forum, which miraculously preserves its white original pavement. It is often not easy to distinguish the Roman traces from the medieval ones, in a combination of walls, towers, doors, basalt and columns. On top of the mountain overlooking the city, you can see the magnificent works of the Jupiter Anxur temple.
